Have you ever stopped trying out clothes in a shop due to lengthy trail room queues or lack of time? Have you ever wanted to change your wardrobe by trying out new styles and colors? Wouldn’t be great if you could try out wide collections of clothes without spending too much time? Hyderabad based Imaginate has come up with the perfect solution with virtual reality to solve all these problems.
Imaginate is a technology enterprise focused on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and offers innovative visualization products and services which enhance the consumer shopping experience. The company is founded by Hemanth Satyanarayana who graduated from IIT-Madras and completed his Masters in the US. He is the winner of the prestigious MIT TR35 India Innovator award and also got featured as a technology pioneer on Lufthansa – Pioneering Spirit TV show by Economic Times NOW.

How it works?
TRIALAR, as the name suggests, is a virtual trial room designed for people who love shopping but are unable to complete their shopping due to various reasons.
The Stores that use this technology have a digital kiosk which can be placed in a corner. Using advanced CPU connected with HD cameras customers, who are standing in front of the Kiosk, are scanned to take their measurements. Digitized clothes and accessories are superimposed on the user’s image to give a virtual feel of trying on various clothes. Customers can pick any number of clothes to try on as long as it is in the database. No more lengthy trial room queues! Just customized shopping fun!
Do you shop online?
This is not just for shoppers who purchase from the offline stores but also for those who buy from online e-retailers. DRESSY, an online virtual fitting room allows users to upload their image and try out various clothes sitting in the comforts of their home. It allows user to try out wide variety of clothes with highly customizable sizes and colors options. Users can also share their pics on social platforms to get suggestions from their friends and family.

What are their other products?
LivAR: Their first product launched was an Augmented Liver Surgery Indicator. It uses advanced image processing and rendering systems that processes the CT scan of the liver and sends a translucent 3D model of the liver with opaque tumor bodies to the operating surgeon’s eye gear in real time.

FirstShow: Imaginate has set out to revolutionize the way how a movie is advertised and a trailer is viewed. Their product, FirstShow is a mobile app that helps movie makers publicize their movies using AR in a way we have only seen in movies(In Harry Potter, remember the moving pictures in the newspapers?). The app gives life to the static posters by playing trailers instantly, when you point the mobile camera to the movie’s poster displayed on various print media like newspapers and magazines.
LENZ: Virtual reality sounds really cool and the cost to own one must be really high. (Ex. Oculus Rift) What if I tell you that your smartphone can act as a VR device? Imaginate’s LENZ, is a device which transforms your smartphone in to a VR and AR headset. Companies can leverage this cutting edge 360 degree immersive experience with custom solutions to engage their audience, especially companies in real-estate, entertainment, defense and education industry.

ShootAR: Along with all their other products, Imaginate has also developed one for the Indian Army. ShootAR, acts as a simulator which can be used for training. It allows soldiers to interact with a mixed rendered environment of real world with virtual world. A sensor controlled gun prototype is given to shoot the 3D generated model of enemies.

Awards and accolades!
Imaginate is the only start-up venture from Hyderabad which got selected to be a part of the prestigious Startup Chille program 2012. This revolutionary idea of virtual trial also earned the recognition in MIT’s ‘TR 35’ 2012 list of top innovators under 35 and on Nasscom’s top-ten products list under LaunchPAD 2011.
It emerged as the Winner in NEXT B2B Startup 2014, conducted by Global Shapers Hub Frankfurt Of The World Economic Forum. And the recent award given under Top 10 Product Innovation Start-ups 2014 by The Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) only shows that there are more awards yet to come for its innovative ideas in Virtual and Augmented Reality.
