As per researches of eMarketer – a market research firm, consumers worldwide have spent approximately $1.672 trillion online in 2015. This figure represents almost 7.3% of overall global retail sales. The research also projects that, by 2019, online purchases will more than double itself to $3.551 trillion, or 12.4% of total retail sales of $28.550 trillion, as more people come online globally.

But one problem with online shopping is that there is no one logistical company that is fully integrated to take care of deliveries of anything and everything. This issue may not be seen as a major problem by customers as long as they get their deliveries on time. But, for online retailers, tying up with different logistic firms may prove to be quite a daunting task.

In 2011, this issue was rightly identified by MrHemachandra Reddy and Srinivas Madhavam when one day one of Srinivas’s food delivery customer asked him if he could get a designer wear from a fashion designer delivered urgently. It was then that Srinivas found vacuum in local logistics space and ensured that she helped her customer by getting the dress delivered for Rs. 300.

Logistics start-up Vdeliver was initially only a food delivery startup website and app, but later on when Srinivas realized that there is a demand on logistic side as well, he and his engineer friend, Hemachandra converted the only food delivery service to a fully integrated system of delivering anything that is legal.

Vdeliver is all about intercity logistics. They deliver anything that is not restricted by the Government anytime between 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM anywhere across the city of Hyderabad.

When the team of Start-Up Hyderabad asked Srinivas how he got the idea of starting Vdeliver, this is the story that he shared with us, “I was working with a power project construction company in Chennai. It used to take at least one complete day to send a document to a destination which is just 5 to 10 kilometers away from the office. One day I was suffering from fever and I wanted somebody to deliver some food to my place and there was no single service which could deliver some food to my location without any restriction on the minimum order & maximum distance. That’s when I found vacuum in local logistics and food delivery space and I started VDeliver in April 2011.”

Customers can place an order either on the official website of Vdeliver or they may download the app from Android Play Store and place the order. For business customers the team gives an API and back end admin Panel for seamless fulfilment of deliveries. The target market of Vdeliver is mainly high income individuals and all local businesses which have a physical products to be delivered to their customers.

Pricing at Vdeliver –

VDeliver has been started to give a taste a unique flavoured logistics to both Businesses & Individuals. They understand that every business is different and hence the requirements of every business also differ. That is why, they have varying pricing for different customers and business –

Package 1 for customers: For those who want fast deliveries

The base price for this package is Rs. 30 and Rs. 10 per km. This price is for 500 grams maximum and if the product is more than half a kilo, the customer will be charged Rs. 25 for every 500 grams. The ETA for this package is 60 mins for 5 kms, and 6 minutes for every extra km.

Package 2 for customers: For those who have fragile items to be delivered

This package has Rs. 100 as base price and Rs. 15 per km with maximum weight 1000 grams. The ETA for this package is 60 mins for 5 kms, and 6 minutes for every extra km.

Package 1 for businesses: Delivery in 4 hours

The base price is Rs. 20 and Rs. 9 per kilometer with 500 gms weight included. You will have to pay Rs. 25 extra for every extra 500 grams. The ETA for this package is 240 mins for first 15kms and 6 mins for every extra kilometer.

Package 2 for businesses: Delivery in 12 hours

The base price is Rs. 15 and Rs. 8 per kilometer with 500 gms weight included. You will have to pay Rs. 25 extra for every extra 500 grams. Here, ETA does not imply

The team of this startup has always been individually free to leave when they saw better career opportunities. After founding the startup with Srinivas Madhavam, Hemachandra left to USA for his higher education. Presently Renuka is heading the marketing wing of Vdeliver. Mr A S K Chaitanya Reddy joined this startup in 2014 and today is heading operations. Mr Prashant Patalay has joined the team recently and is helping in developing the Technology side of Vdeliver.

This startup has clients like Zomato, Zooper, My Smart Price, Vodafone Documents through Hexaware Technologies and Cleanse High. They aim to be the single point logistics provider for all Delivery needs of an individual or a business. Till date Vdeliver has served more than 6000 individual customers in Chennai and Hyderabad. Today, they are not only helping customers get everything delivered to their doorstep, but are also serving more than 60 + businesses in Hyderabad and Chennai. They have successfully fulfilled more than 40,000 deliveries with 90% point to point deliveries at 99.5 % accuracy.

In order to reach their set goals, they have been striving day in and day out to improve their grip on the market. They have also been accelerated by Gen next innovation hub which is a highly valued acceleration program powered by Reliance and Microsoft ventures. They are the only startup that has been shortlisted from Hyderabad.
