Digital Media Strategy for Startups
9 years ago Arpita SomaHow do startups go about a digital media strategy?
Slowly, but steadily the world is moving from analog documentation to a digital universe. We have already reached a phase where connectivity loss could cost us business and money; and connecting with the right people, at the right moment – beyond physical borders – could mean better profits.
In this rapidly digitizing world, it is only imperative that businesses see value in reaching out to their audiences on the digital platform. Regardless of your company size, whether or not you are able to tap into the digital medium is what is ultimately deciding your reach and thereby, your growth and market share. That’s not all. Digital marketing today is one of the fastest growing media; with the rapid rate of global internet penetration, borderless businesses are thriving on, and contributing to the digital market.
While that is one piece of the argument, another vital advantage is the cost-benefit. Digital marketing is several times cheaper than traditional ATL or BTL marketing, and promises better return on investment. It taps into a live audience, and gives live results; and makes monitoring and course-correction feasible, simple and cost-effective. This is doubtlessly the strongest reason businesses are following their consumers into the digital realm, taking along their marketing focus.
Especially for small businesses and startups with lean teams, digital marketing helps focus energies through a highly customizable channel and target very specific audiences – remarkably reducing wastage. However, in small teams the big question is not whether digital marketing is essential; that is already established. The critical question is – how do they go about it?
How do small teams that afford only a meager budget for publicity, make the most of the allotment through digital marketing? How do they make sure that every dollar spent, is in the right direction and pays back well? What specific tools must they choose, given the teams are also often so lean? When must they engage an agency, and when should they hire digital marketing resources? What are the dos and don’ts of digital marketing for young teams?
To answer all these questions, iKeva is hosting a workshop and open Q&A with Digital Marketing Guru – Raghu Seelamsetty on 27th November.
