Hyderabad student team Mr. Pill Minder idea, wins the 2019 TiE Young Entrepreneurs Summer Business Pitchfest

Filtex – A Passive Filtration Device declared Runners up. The finalists consisting of 20 students of 14 schools formed 4 teams and pitched their ideas at the TYE Summer PitchFest.

 

TiE Hyderabad announced today the winners of TYE Summer Pitchfest, Young Entrepreneurs 2019 edition. Mr. Phil Minder, a Pill Dispenser Business Idea took the winner glory, Filtex  – a passive filtration device to filter water in the lakes around the city bagged the runner up position.

At the Pitchfest, held on Sunday, 20 students selected from 14 top schools from across the city formed 4 groups and pitched their innovative solutions to a team of distinguished jury comprising Venkatesh Narasimhan SVP, Redpine Signals & Viiveck Verma CSO, Srinivasa Farms, Program Co-Chairs of TYE Summer 2019 along with the stellar Jury Panel Rakesh Bhatia (CEO, TheCapitalNet),  Juliane Frommter (Director – International Programs, T-Hub) & Sridhar CV (Head of Incubation Alliances, TCS) gave away the awards to the winning teams.

There were quite a few interesting pitches; the jury declared Mr Pill Minder – A Pill dispenser with a difference as winners for their prototype & business plan of automatic pill reminder.  Filtex – A passive filtration device on the other hand won the runner up position for their plan with a device to filter water in the lakes around the city.

In their address after giving away the awards the jury panel said with such programs, we must encourage the next generation with the skills necessary to face the world challenges and create simpler solutions rather than worrying about problems – the Charter Members of TiE Hyderabad added.

TiE Hyderabad launched their Summer Edition of TYE in May this year. A total of 62 students registered from 21 different schools of the twin cities attended the program in IIT Hyderabad. Thereafter, 20 selected students underwent a rigorous curriculum on entrepreneurship development with 12 classroom sessions spread over 3 weeks.

After which, each team were guided by a mentor, a practicing entrepreneur and a TiE Charter Member for 3 weeks to help convert their innovative ideas into a feasible business plan ready to be pitch at a final competition held on 16th June Sunday. TYE is the only student entrepreneurship program taught by successful entrepreneurs of TiE Hyderabad. This year, the TYE Summer students will also spend a Day with A CEO.

Congratulating the winners Srikanthan Tirumala, Board Member of TiE Hyderabad said “The level of clarity on their business ideas and product, being fearless & confident about the solution coupled with good communication was brilliant. The program co-chairs Venkatesh Narasimhan & Viiveck Verma for guiding the program to its finale was also appreciated by both TiE and student achievers”.

The jury members along with Board Members, Program Chairs, Mentors and other Charter Members of TiE Hyderabad were present at the award ceremony.

The Program Co-Chair Mr. Venkatesh Narasimhan, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technologies Redpine Signals Inc said, “Over the years TiE Young Entrepreneurs has been the most impactful program we do and has been very satisfying program for us, when we see these bright kids pick up all the principles of running business in just a few weeks of mentoring them. They are able to make presentations comparable with any seasoned entrepreneurs, which is highly commendable.”

Adding to this the Co-Chair Mr. Viiveck Verma, Chief Strategy Officer & Head Retail – Srinivasa Farms said, “I find this to be the most meaningful activity for us to be looking at our future and how we can, in our own small manner, shape the future of the country & the world through these young entrepreneurs that we work with. This is a program which aims to teach the young generation how do they look for problems around them, and then find solutions for them, and how do you execute these solutions to make them scaleable.”
