The Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA), the industry body representing Telangana’s technology sector, has elected Flt Lt Bipin Pendyala, General Manager at Appen India, as its new President for the 2026–28 term.

The announcement was made at HYSEA’s 34th Annual General Body Meeting in Hyderabad, where the association also unveiled its newly elected Executive and Managing Committee for the next two years.

Pendyala succeeds Prashanth Nandella and takes over at a time when Hyderabad’s technology ecosystem is entering a new phase of growth shaped by artificial intelligence, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), product innovation, and workforce transformation.

A Leadership Transition at a Defining Moment

With more than two decades of experience across artificial intelligence, data, product engineering and global technology services, Bipin Pendyala brings both industry depth and continuity to the role.

He has been closely associated with HYSEA over the years and has previously served on its Executive Committee, giving him a strong understanding of the association’s priorities, member base and role in Telangana’s broader technology ecosystem.

Speaking on his appointment, Pendyala said he is taking charge at a defining moment for the industry, with artificial intelligence rapidly becoming a foundational layer across sectors.

His message was clear: Hyderabad is well positioned to lead this transformation globally, and HYSEA will focus on building stronger collaboration between industry, academia, startups and government while helping create a future-ready, AI-fluent workforce.

HYSEA’s Strategic Focus for 2026–28

Under the new leadership, HYSEA has outlined a set of clear priorities for the 2026–28 term.

1. Scaling Member Value and Reach

HYSEA plans to strengthen its position as the association of choice for technology companies operating in Telangana.

As the representative body for one of India’s largest and fastest-growing technology ecosystems, HYSEA aims to create more value for members through:

  • stronger industry engagement
  • better access to knowledge and information
  • opportunities for professional growth
  • platforms for innovation and leadership development

This becomes especially relevant as Telangana continues to grow as a major destination for GCCs, enterprise technology and startups.

2. Research and Thought Leadership

HYSEA also plans to sharpen its role as a thought leadership body.

Its agenda includes:

  • two flagship reports every year
  • quarterly member insight digests
  • at least one white paper annually from each active council

This reflects a broader shift in how industry associations operate today. They are no longer just networking platforms; they are increasingly expected to shape industry thinking, provide market intelligence and influence strategic direction.

3. Policy and Ecosystem Partnerships

Another major priority is deeper engagement with policy and institutional partners.

HYSEA will work on:

  • co-creating the Telangana IT Policy
  • deepening collaboration with the Government of Telangana
  • engaging more actively with STPI Hyderabad, NASSCOM, CII, FICCI and academia
  • ensuring HYSEA’s voice contributes meaningfully across relevant policy and ecosystem forums

For Hyderabad’s tech sector, this matters because long-term competitiveness depends not just on company performance, but also on the quality of policy frameworks, talent systems and institutional alignment.

4. Building an AI-Fluent Workforce for Telangana

Perhaps the most future-facing priority in HYSEA’s new roadmap is its focus on building an AI-fluent workforce across Telangana.

The association plans to support lakhs of employees working across HYSEA member companies through:

  • structured leadership development programmes
  • women-in-tech accelerators
  • skilling partnerships with universities
  • startup-led collaborations and innovation programmes

This signals that HYSEA sees artificial intelligence not simply as a technology trend, but as a capability shift that will affect talent, leadership and competitiveness across the entire ecosystem.

A Board Designed to Represent the Full Ecosystem

Introducing the new committee, Bipin Pendyala described it as a deeply representative board.

That is visible in the composition of the team, which includes leaders from:

  • large IT services companies
  • multinational and India-headquartered GCCs
  • emerging technology firms
  • SME technology companies
  • startup and AI-first businesses

That mix is significant.

Why This Matters for Hyderabad

HYSEA’s leadership transition comes at an important time for Hyderabad.

The city is no longer seen only as an IT services powerhouse. It is increasingly being recognised as:

  • a leading GCC destination
  • a rising centre for AI and data-led innovation
  • a city with a maturing startup and product ecosystem
  • a place where industry, academia and government are collaborating more closely than ever

In that context, HYSEA’s role becomes even more important.

As an association representing nearly 400 member companies and more than 95% of Telangana’s IT industry by revenue and workforce, HYSEA sits at the centre of several key conversations around growth, talent, policy and global positioning.

The new leadership team will now be expected to help shape how Hyderabad competes in an era increasingly defined by AI, automation, digital infrastructure and global capability-led growth.

About HYSEA

Established in 1991, HYSEA is a not-for-profit industry association representing the IT, ITeS, GCC and startup ecosystem in Telangana.

Over the years, it has played a major role in Hyderabad’s evolution into a global technology hub by:

  • advocating for industry needs
  • supporting IT policy development
  • promoting investment and ecosystem growth
  • connecting corporations, startups and research institutions
  • fostering innovation and collaboration across the state

Its vision is to position Hyderabad as a global centre of intellectual capital, entrepreneurship, research and innovation.

Closing Thought

The election of Flt Lt Bipin Pendyala as HYSEA’s new President is more than a routine industry body update.

It signals the direction HYSEA wants to take over the next two years:
towards deeper collaboration, stronger thought leadership, wider member engagement, and a sharper focus on preparing Telangana’s workforce and companies for an AI-first future.

As Hyderabad continues to expand its role in the global tech economy, HYSEA’s next chapter will likely play an important part in shaping how that story unfolds.
