Email Marketing – why, how and a few tools to use

Once a product is live and a business starts its operations, the most important thing to focus on is to attract new customers while retaining the old ones. The best way to market your services and stay connected with your users is by adopting a combination of different marketing strategies. Often startups are stuck in the dilemma as to which combination will yield them the maximum results.

With social media like Facebook decreasing the reach of pages , email marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach out to a large audience and also to stay connected with your users. According to a study by the Direct Marketing Association, two out of three (66 percent) consumers have made a purchase online as a result of an email marketing message.

Wondering how mere emails would help you build up brand value? Well, here are few benefits of using this strategy to market your firm –
1) The reach out is huge. Leave a subscribe by email button on your website, get email IDs of people interested in your product and you can stay in touch with even potential customers who are not yet ready to buy the product but may be interested.
2) The effect of this email marketing is long lasting. This is because people tend to keep emails in their folders for a long time. So the mails can be retrieved by them as and when they want to
3) It ensures instant reach to customers. Today almost everybody has their emails synced on their smartphones and thus as soon as new mail is received it pops up on their phones
4) You can customize the emails by using first names of customers adding a personal touch to the message sent.
5) In some countries, receiving text messages may also incur a charge from the mobile carrier. Emails are free!

How to build your email marketing campaign:

1) Build a strong content because the success of your email depends on the words and sentences that you use in the mail and the subject.
2) Keep it simple and user “read”able. Do not add lot of visuals and links in the body of the email. Often a mail with too many visuals that do not load, are ignore by customers.
3) Convey the summary of the mail in the subject so that the customers who receive the mail get attracted towards opening the mail and reading it.
4) In the end of the email, make sure that you are mentioning all your contact details, website and social links, and your company address. This way you are making yourself more reachable for your customers.
5) Do not fake anything in the email. Keep all the facts and event happenings true to build utmost trust amongst the customers.
