Silicon Valley based Global NPO Girls In Tech launches India headquarters in Hyderabad

Girls In Tech (GIT), a global non profit empowering women in tech and  based out of San Francisco has launched their India headquarters in Hyderabad today at the Park Hyatt.  GIT focuses on promoting innovation, raising and supporting the visibility of women in the areas of STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. GIT has multiple chapters around the world including countries like France, UAE, Brazil and more and offer a variety of  resources and curriculum for their members to further their educational and professional aspirations. Some of the programs by GIT  include Lady Pitch Night, Catalyst Conference, Coding and Design Bootcamps, Hackathons, XChange, Global Classroom, GIT WORK, and others.

The launch was well attended by entrepreneurs, mentors and women in technology from the city and the guests included Michael Mullins, Consulate General, US Consulate General, Hyderabad, Jayesh Ranjan, IAS & Secretary to the Govt, ITE & C Dept., Govt. of Telangana and women entrepreneurs like Vanitha Datla, Chairperson- CII- Telangana, CFO & Exec. Dir at Elico Industries and Shailaja Kiran, MD, Margadarsi Chit Fund (p) Ltdand director of Kalanjali Arts & Crafts and Brisah.

GIT boasts of a strong network of mentors and an advisory board comprising of Prof D.N. Reddy, Vice Chairman, Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) & Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) and M Adithya Reddy, Educator, E-Governance Expert & Green Energy Promoter are a part of the Board of Advisors of GITI.

Sree Divya Vadlapudi, a women entrepreneur from the city will lead GIT in India as their  National Managing Director . Sree Divya has entered the Limca Book of Records as India’s youngest undergraduate researcher with the highest number of International publications and is currently the Innovation Head & Senior Research Engineer – R & D at Krishna Infotech. She is also the Co-Chair at FTAPCCI Ladies Wing.

Sree Divya’s vision is to bring the best of resources to girls in India and to bridge the gap between silicon valley & India. When she was in doubt about how she could take GIT to the rural and grass root level , she says her grandfathers words were a source of immense inspiration to her . She quotes her grandfather “You begin your journey, your inspiration will be people.” Git has successfully executed a lot of events for girls in the STEM field during the last one year in Hyderabad and has huge plans lined up for the next three years with events planned in Hyderabad, Bangalore and New Delhi.

With Girls In Tech launching their India headquarters here in Hyderabad, women definitely can look forward to some big events, huge learnings and access to world class mentors in the near future.
