Eco-friendly toys by ARIRO.
2 years ago Nethrikaa GreeshmaAriro is a Chennai-based startup that specializes in exquisite wooden toys for 0-3 year-old kids. Targeting the Montessori kids as their customer base, the founders Vasant Tamilselvan and Nisha Ramaswamy from Chennai came up with Ariro that makes many different types of wooden toys that are hand-crafted specially for kids by Indian artists. All their products are eco-friendly which helps children to learn and play.
Vasant did his Master’s in Social Work. He earlier started his company, ‘Innovative Media Solutions’, and has presently leased out to the Times of India group respectively. Children tend to chew anything they grab and one must be careful while handling them. Thus, after thorough research, they found Neem wood which is both antibacterial and antifungal. They saw this as an opportunity and launched AriroToys in 2020. To date, they have designed and executed over 100 products like Pikler Triangle, Jungle Gym. They have been pioneers in making such products in India.
The products on Ariro’s website claim to support thousands of artisans across the country. At present, Ariro’s Instagram account has 44k followers. The vibrant couple owned 100% of the company. Ariro has made a revenue of ₹2.5 crores in the last year of business.
The founders of Ariro has projected their revenue to the sharks asking for an investment of 50 lakhs for 2.5% equity. Among the five sharks, Aman and Peyush Bansal exhibited interest and offered deals to Ariro. However, Anupam, Namita, and Vineeta backed out of the deal citing multiple reasons. Thus, the final offer was made by the two Sharks, Aman Gupta and Peyush Bansal for 50 lakh investment at 10% Equity. Let’s wish Ariro the best of luck!
