In a major boost to India’s growing defence-tech ecosystem, Hyderabad-based startup JEH Aerospace has raised $11 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Elevation Capital, with participation from General Catalyst and veteran entrepreneurs Naval Ravikant (co-founder, AngelList) and Balaji Srinivasan (ex-Coinbase CTO).

This marks one of the most significant early-stage funding rounds in India’s defence-tech space and highlights the strategic shift in investor confidence towards indigenous innovation in aerospace and national security technology.

What Does JEH Aerospace Do?

Founded by Arun Vasan and Divyanshu Poddar, JEH Aerospace is building advanced aerial systems and technologies for the Indian armed forces. The company is focusing on next-gen airframe platforms, surveillance systems, and mission-critical technologies that can bolster India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

According to media reports, the startup plans to use this funding to expand its engineering team, ramp up product development, and work closely with key stakeholders in India’s military and strategic ecosystem.

Why This Matters

India has been pushing for Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) in the defence sector, with increased emphasis on Make in India technologies. JEH Aerospace’s mission aligns directly with this national priority. The company’s solutions are expected to offer cost-effective, domestically developed alternatives to foreign imports in critical defence areas.

This funding also signals a new wave of interest from global VCs and tech entrepreneurs in India’s dual-use technologies—those that serve both commercial and military purposes.

Hyderabad: Emerging Defence-Tech Hub

Hyderabad has rapidly evolved into a nucleus for aerospace, defence, and high-tech manufacturing, with ecosystem enablers like T-Hub, RICH, and DRDO-backed institutions fostering innovation. JEH Aerospace’s growth further validates the city’s positioning as a launchpad for deep-tech startups focused on national security, space, and aviation.

This is not the first time Hyderabad startups have made headlines in strategic sectors. Start-Up Hyderabad has previously covered cutting-edge innovations in AI, space tech, drones, and biotechnology emerging from the region.

The Road Ahead

As India continues to modernize its defence infrastructure and look inward for innovation, startups like JEH Aerospace are poised to play a pivotal role. With the latest backing from marquee investors, the company is expected to scale its operations, deepen R&D, and potentially become a leading name in India’s new-age defence supply chain.

This round is a strong signal to aspiring founders and tech investors: India’s strategic-tech moment is here. And Hyderabad is leading from the front.
