Startup Accelerators in Hyderabad
8 years ago Shalini BThere is no doubt in the fact about the growing numbers of startups all over the nation. The support from not only private accelerators and institutions, but the state and national Government is very commendable.
Accelerator programs are short duration intense programs directed towards quick scaling up and growth of startups. According to Paul Bricault, cofounder of Amplify, a Los Angeles-based accelerator, “An accelerator takes single-digit chunks of equity in externally developed ideas in return for small amounts of capital and mentorship. They’re generally truncated into a three to four month program at the end of which the start-ups ‘graduate.’†(source: www.inc.com )
Here is a list of a few startup accelerators and their programs in Hyderabad –
Catalyzer, Hyderabad
The main focus of the accelerator is on changing technologies, social enterprises and non – profit organizations. They host a program called the “Catalyzer Startup Accelerator Program†which is a 101 days program. It is mainly aimed at providing mentorship to budding business men/women. The program is hosted by Catalyzer two times in a year. It selects up to 12 startup teams/ individuals entrepreneurs and assist them to ship through their crucial first stage in the entrepreneurship journey. Selected startups receive financial support in the form of pre-seed capital, work space, IT facilities and other resources.
Spark10, Hyderabad
Spark10 boasts of a network of mentors from startup gurus to investors. The startups that are accepted into Spark10’s accelerator program go through an intensive 13 week program and also have access to investors, free spaces, workshops that will help them scale. Ten selected startups will also receive a funding of Rs.20 lakhs against 8% equity. Spark10 is backed by a network of investors, entrepreneurs and founders from Europe & India.
Health Start, Hyderabad
This is one of its kind accelerator program that exclusively aims to provide support to startups operating in the healthcare sector. Health Start provides funding, mentorship and other required support to all and any startups that are into health care industry. It was launched in 2014 by the HealthStart & ISB’s human centered design-focused incubator, DLabs. This accelerator firm hosts a 20 – week long program that provides guidance to participating startups and investment capital aid to selected startups.
Other accelerators in the country:
Microsoft Ventures, Bangalore
This venture is recognized to be an early-to-middle-stage accelerator which lays its focus on themes including smart cloud services, mobile applications, urban informatics, Big Data, Internet of Things and wearable computing.
This accelerator usually hosts a four-month program half yearly  once at the beginning of the calendar year and the other, somewhere in July. The accelerator program aims to allow startups to get in touch with business mentors, technical and design experts. Startups also meet other office space vendors and resources that would help budding entrepreneurs scale their business.
GSF India, Bangalore and Gurgaon
This accelerator firm aims at early-stage funding and is run by the former Reliance Entertainment President, Rajesh Sawhney.
GSF India brings in a 13-week program that is designed as a hackathon. The products presented in this hackathon – cum – accelerator program are undergone several changes and the participating teams go through intense and difficult Q&Aing rounds with mentors, investors and other entrepreneurs who are a part of the program. The participating teams get a chance of being a part of 20 intensive workshops conducted by experts across the globe. These workshops cover 5 major growing aspects of startup ecosystem including product strategy, marketing, technology, business strategy and venture funding.
