The road to GES and GES!?

It’s  all over the news, Hyderabad, the city of heritage and history is hosting the Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) and credited as the first ever South Asian city to host such great event.

Everywhere in the city, there are hoardings welcoming  Ms.Ivanka Trump and Hon’ble Prime minister Narendra Modi. But what many still wonder what this event is all about!? Why there is such International exposure and media coverage highlighting this event?

A huge set of interesting questions ….isn’t it??

Well !!  I will try to answer at least a few of them.

The government of India and United States of America is jointly hosting this Summit in Hyderabad this November 28-30.Starting from 2010, almost 7 years by now, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) has connected the best entrepreneurship talent with investors and startup ecosystem across the globe to innovate the world’s most exciting solutions. The first ever GES summit has happened in 2011 at Istanbul – Turkey and the most recently in 2016, Silicon Valley hosted this prestigious event. With a startup boom striking India from all verticals and horizontals one such place which has the best talent coupled with best opportunities is proven to be Hyderabad!!

In partnership with the Government of United States of America , NITI Aayog is proud to host the eighth annual Global Entrepreneur Summit in India and  will be addressed by The Honorable  Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi  who will be highlighting India’s enabling environment for Innovation and entrepreneurship and the increase in ease of doing business and supporting startups by eliminating unnecessary regulations . The US delegation will be led by Ms. Ivanka Trump, Advisor to President Trump.

GES 2017, at Hyderabad, is going to host 1500 attendees, including investors, entrepreneurs, business representatives and Government officials bringing together the best talent across the nation and the world. Enabling better networking and workshops on how to pitch ideas and explaining the ways to get secure funding to help out every entrepreneur to reach their destination is the core of this event.

No doubt Hyderabad is the best city in India to accommodate people of diversified cultures and now with extreme support from the Telangana state Government and T-Hub – India’s largest startup Incubator Hyderabad is taking the entrepreneurial spirit to the next level. This year theme is “ Women First, Prosperity for All” to celebrate such entrepreneurial spirit intends to inspire innovative initiatives and increase employment opportunities especially amongst women. In support of the same regard, Ms Ivanka Trump, advisor to the president of U.S. delegation is visiting India to promote women entrepreneurship Globally.GES participants are global representing every region in the world.

Under the overarching theme of ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’, this year the summit will primarily focus on Energy & Infrastructure, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Financial Technology & Digital Economy, and Media & Entertainment sectors.

To Inspire the culture of entrepreneurship throughout the United States, India and globally, the “Road to GES” is a series of events from September through November and beyond to build and engage the startup community connecting the entrepreneurs with the investors and many more.

GES 2017 is proud to put Women First in this celebration of potential and possibilities that entrepreneurship and innovation bring to the world.

What this event is going to EXPLORE??

Startups are more than the struggle and pain at the beginning of the journey. Entrepreneurs in their journey of filling the gaps are building world-class economies, creating jobs, increasing productivity and improving millions of lives.

At GES, startup ecosystem supporters together with investors will have a unique opportunity of attending two and a half days of dynamic panel discussions, mentoring and investment matchmaking. This summit is mainly going to focus on startups related to these four innovative industries:

1.Healthcare and life sciences

2.Digital Economy and Financial Technology

3.Energy and Infrastructure

4.Media and Entertainment
The last perk of this event happens to be the live Pitch Competition. The GIST Catalyst pitch competition will include startups from India, the United States, and other countries from around the world. Through the competition, entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to elevate their pitch and showcase the startups they are working on. Teams will also learn how to pitch their business ideas to investors and potential partners—a critical skill for entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs will be competing for a variety of prizes, such as Amazon Web Services credits and mentorship, Alice Digital Acceleration, an interview by Elizabeth Gore in Inc. Magazine, Airbnb credits, C5 Acceleration, Dell laptops, Google credits, and chance to compete for $1 million USD in investments at the 2018 Startup World Cup Championship in San Francisco. T- Hub at its best encouraging many young talents to utilize this opportunity to grow their business and get the necessary international exposure.

On the whole, this two and half day event (Nov 28 -30) called GES has paved a way to many events called “Road to GES” events from almost two and half months really brought the essence of entrepreneurship not only to the Hyderabad but also whole India.

CUDOS to all the people who are associated with conducting this event and Cheers to all my fellow entrepreneurs!!
