Cupid Care: A startup breaking traditional taboo through technology
8 years ago Shalini BIn a country that is the second largest in terms of population and that rejoices its debut mission to Mars, walking into a store and buying a condom is still a ‘dare’. We are still forced to remain tight lipped when it comes to sex and sexual health. Sex education is the most neglected topic when it actually is something very important. Sexual health concerns are as common as common cold. At least 1 in every 5 individual suffers from sexual health problems yet they barely open up.
CupidCare, a startup based out of Hyderabad, attempts to address sexual health concerns with the use of technology. This web-based platform helps users connect with verified sexologists, psychologists & gynaecologists over video, telephonic and text chats. Launched just a month ago in the second week of March, the company claims to have addressed concerns of over 200+ clients. The queries ranged from sex addiction, homosexuality, irregular periods, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction concerns, STDs and other gynaecology and dermatology issues.
Started by Sriram Varma (Ex-Tracxn) & Krishna Teja (Ex-Orbees Medical) who are alumni of BITS Goa and IIT (BHU) respectively, Cupidcare has on-boarded about 20+ sexologists, psychologists, gynaecologists, andrologists from Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Cochin, Indore and Vijayawada. In addition to the online consultation, the platform allows users to book diagnostic tests and sexual health packages – all ensuring utmost confidentiality of the clients.
“We are addressing a real Indian problem. We decided to use technology to deal with this problem because it allows our clients to anonymously consult our experts. In addition to the on-demand consultations we are coming up with online counselling packages for premarital counselling, hypersexual disorders, postpartum depression, menopausal depression which are very common yet nobody opens up.†says the CEO, Sriram.
CupidCare was also one of the winners at TiE smashup held in Feb’16 at Hyderabad . Today, the founders are operating from Hyderabad, with Dr. A. Satyanarayana Reddy – a senior Sexologist & Gynaecologist and Dr. Rahul Reddy – Andrologist offering clinical and domain expertise.
Hats off to the entire team of CupidCare to come up with such an amazing startup to help people address a very important problem of everyday life. Got ‘those’ questions – consult sexual health experts at www.cupidcare.in .
