In the sizzling world of culinary entrepreneurship, one name stands out for its fusion of tech prowess and gastronomic innovation: Dil Foods. Founded in 2022 by the visionary Arpita Aditi, an esteemed biotech engineer hailing from the prestigious halls of MIT, Dil Foods is not just redefining the dining experience – it’s revolutionizing it.

Arpita Aditi’s journey to entrepreneurship began with a passion for food and a vision to redefine the dining experience. Armed with her background in biotech engineering and invaluable experience gained from companies like Himalayan Drugs, Reliance Capital, and Swiggy, Arpita set out to create something truly unique – Dil Foods. With a focus on virtual dining and regional Indian flavors, Dil Foods quickly gained traction in the bustling food scene of Bangalore and Hyderabad.

At the heart of Dil Foods lies its innovative business model, known as Dil Brands. Operating as a virtual kitchen, Dil Foods partners with over 65 local restaurants to create and manage a portfolio of eight virtual food brands, including Dil Punjabi, Aahar, The Chaat Cult, House of Andhra, Bihari Bowl, Bhole ke Chole, and Khichdi Bar. This allows Dil Foods to offer a diverse range of culinary experiences, catering to the varied tastes of its customers.

When Arpita Aditi stepped onto the set of Shark Tank, she had one goal in mind: to secure funding to fuel the growth of Dil Foods. Seeking an investment of ₹50 lakhs for a 0.5% equity stake, Arpita’s pitch caught the attention of the Sharks, who were impressed by the potential of Dil Foods’ unique business model. Engaging in a spirited bidding war, the Sharks ultimately came together to offer ₹2 crore for a 2.67% equity stake, valuing Dil Foods at ₹75 crore.

The deal, which involved four Sharks – Radhika Gupta from Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Vineeta Singh from Sugar Cosmetics, Peyush Bansal from Lenskart, and Ritesh Agarwal from OYO Rooms – was a testament to the belief in Arpita’s vision and the potential of Dil Foods. Despite their initial differences, the Sharks collaborated to present a collective offer that Arpita couldn’t refuse, paving the way for Dil Foods to reach new heights of success.

As Dil Foods continues to expand its reach and offerings, one thing is clear: Arpita Aditi’s entrepreneurial vision and innovative approach to dining have set the stage for a culinary revolution. With the support of some of India’s most prominent investors, Dil Foods is poised to redefine the way we think about virtual dining and regional Indian flavors, one delicious meal at a time.
