About SMC

Startup Master Class (SMC) is an initiative by the Alumni Association of IIT Kanpur. SMC is a unique format startup event “for Entrepreneurs, from Entrepreneurs”.

Startup Master Class came into existence 4 years ago with a mandate of fostering and nurturing budding entrepreneurs. It brings together startups, mentors and investors to build interactions and strengthen the network within the entrepreneurial community.

Startup Master Class Platform is a full volunteer driven, not for profit with a network of passionate individuals and institutions (alumni of PAN IIT network) combining their skills and resources in support of the activities to promote entrepreneurship.

The 10th edition of SMC at Hyderabad themed “Zero to One: Take A LEap” will centre around entrepreneurs, investors and the ecosystem who had the courage to take a leap and seeing it through the various phases of growth. It will witness participation from Alumni, Mentors, Investors, Incubators, Corporates and Startups.

Through its 9 editions, organised across various cities in India -Bangalore, Pune, Delhi, Kanpur, Kolkata, SMC has created an ecosystem for startups to leverage the power of the Alumni – the expertise, mentoring, funding, government and corporate connect – to support their journey.

The 10th edition of SMC is going to be organized at ISB campus of Hyderabad and event also facilitates idea pitching and getting a chance to get mentored by investors and thought leaders from various domains. Are you ready to dive in and take a few laps with the sharks? Pitch your business in front of a panel of VCs. Focus on how to nail your startup pitch.

SMC Startup Select is open for all. Selected start-ups will be asked to attend and present in our Startup Select session on 17th February 2018 in front of an eminent panel of judges from the most sought-after mentors and investment firms.

The top 3 winners will get a one-hour mentorship session to present their ideas in detail to the VCs and discuss funding.
