Hyderabad Triathlon – India’s Largest Open Triathlon event!
10 years ago Neha MohsinAfter the phenomenal success of the first flagship event of the year, Hyderabad Mud Run, the Great Hyderabad Adventure Club (GHAC) is now ready with it’s next prestigious event. The 5th edition of Hyderabad Triathlon will be held on 12th October 2014, across two locations in the twin cities.
GHAC introduced the first ever Triathlon in Hyderabad on July 31 2011. The Hyderabad Triathlon started in a small way, five years ago and since then attained international stature with participants from across the country vying for honours. The Hyderabad Triathlon is one of the three signature events of Great Hyderabad Adventure Club. This sporting event is a test of strength, stamina and endurance and all about pushing the limits of the participants, while they revel in the satisfaction of finishing the triathlon. The 5th edition of the triathlon, the Hyderabad Triathlon 2014 is scheduled to be held on October 12th, 2014 at two locations, the Gachibowli Sports Complex and ICFAI, Dontampally.
A Triathlon involves three sporting disciplines: Swimming, Cycling and Running. This edition of Hyderabad Triathlon will also see the introduction of two new categories – 3/4 Iron Man Triathlon & Power Duathlon – to facilitate the die-hard athletes of the city to push their limits and challenge their physical and mental endurance levels.

The 5th edition of Hyderabad Triathlon 2014 is envisaged to draw a footfall of 2500 spectators and 1000+ participants across all categories.
According to Hyderabad Triathlon Event Director, Deepam Morparia “the Triathlon being conducted in Hyderabad is not envisaged as a competition, however, all participants will be timed for all the three sports, to facilitate them to assess their individual performances in the respective sport.â€ÂÂ
The objective of the Hyderabad Triathlon is to create awareness about the Triathlon among the general public, improve physical and mental fitness of the participants, as also making it a family-friendly event to encourage the participation of families for a healthier lifestyle. Participants aged 5 years onwards can participate and there is no upper age limit. Participants below the age of 18 years will need to submit a duly signed parental consent form. Event specific eligibility criteria can be found at the Triathlon website, www.hyderabadtriathlon.com
Participants of the Olympic Triathlon are expected to complete all the three events within a reasonable time of 7 hours. All participants will get the timings for each individual event and Timing chips will be provided to participants of specific events. Participants can download the e-certificate with the timings on it from the portal, after they are announced.
Cycles will be made available for those who require it and need to be booked during the online participation registration. All participants will receive a route map with their registration kit, on October 11, the Bib Distribution Day.

Arrangements have been made for medical help and Support action team members will provide water and energy drinks to the participants at points along the route. All finishers will get a medal and a certificate. The day long events of Hyderabad Triathlon will begin at the crack of dawn and promises to pin Hyderabad on the International Triathlon map.
