Infosys to inaugurate its biggest campus in Hyderabad

From the launch of the T-Hub to the CEO of Microsoft visiting the city and to the IT sector growing at least two fold a year, it’s been a progressive year for the city. And now before the year ends, there is another big announcement from the IT giant, Infosys. Infosys is all set to inaugurate its biggest campus at Pocharam in Hyderabad by February 2016.
“The seating capacity of the campus is 25,000. They are planning to inaugurate the campus formally in February, after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections,” Rao told reporters on the sidelines of a programme at T-Hub.†Said Telangana Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao.
Vishal Sikka, CEO of Infosys officially visited the city and T-Hub on 28th December and formally invited the IT Minister KTR for the inauguration. Chief Minister KCR would inaugurate the campus
The Pocharam campus of Infy is expected to be spread over of 447 acres, and is being built with a total investment of Rs 1,250 crore. The construction would be completed in three phases over a period of ten years, a press release of the company had stated earlier. The first phase is ready for inauguration and has a seating capacity of 12,000 and an initial investment of an estimated Rs. 600 crore.
Officials at Infosys claimed that the Pocharam facility will be run completely by renewable energy. “The plant, with a total capacity of 7.2 MW, has been synchronized with the grid. It is expected to generate 12 million kWh a year. This initiative is expected to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions by 9,200 tonnes,â€ÂÂ
Infosys has also proposed to set up a campus at Warangal on the lines of its Mysore Campus where fresh graduates will be trained . So, gear up Hyderabadis for more big launches and announcements in the coming year. No wonder we are called the Happening Hyderabad!
