STARTUP INDIA LAUNCHES TECH4YOU CHALLENGE

American engineer and inventor Dean Kamen once said,” Every once in a while, a new technology, an old problem, and a big idea turn into an innovation.” Do you believe that with the right support, your idea can transform into such an innovation? Is your startup having what it takes to pioneer a product that can enhance and advance the lives of people across the globe? If yes, you have come to the right place.

We at Startup India have a mission to provide world-class support and services to ensure the promotion and proliferation of new ideas and innovations. To further advance this agenda, we have teamed up with Invest India and SoftBank to bring to you “Tech4Future”, an open challenge to all Indian startups that have that have built technologies to better the functioning and security of industries across the various sectors of the economy.

The challenge falls under four themes: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Face Recognition and Cyber Security.

Machine Learning:
From bogus Whatsapp forwards to fraudulent Twitter accounts propagating disinformation, ‘Fake news’ is more than just the 2017 word of the year. It has risen as a legitimate counter to the age of information, free will, and democracy. To curb this noxious by-product of dwindling journalistic integrity even in important news and media sources, we are looking for crowdsourced platforms/data processing units leveraging technologies to detect and block the rampant spread of fake news.

Artificial Intelligence:
Ever since we were little, we have been taught the importance of following traffic rules. Over 1.5 lakh Indians died on the streets in 2016 for not following traffic rules alone. In the light of these events, it is evident that this field needs immediate technological intervention. Thus, we are looking for companies that leverage technology to solve global mobility problems with a focus on road traffic safety.

Face Recognition:
If you’re the average millennial with a penchant for keeping up with the latest technological fads, chances are, you are all too familiar with face recognition. This technology is fast gaining grounds in smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc. To develop it further, we are throwing the portals of the Tech4You challenge open to companies that can usher this technology to the next level.

Cyber Security:
In the past few years, online advertising has crossed a net value of over Rs 5,000 crores. The paths used for online marketing include SMS, e-mail, social media platforms and mobile applications. But along with this development comes various security and privacy concerns. The recent debacle with Facebook causing data leaks to Cambridge Analytica further sheds light on this subject. Hence, we are looking for solutions that leverage technologies to secure digital vehicle components and systems to avoid data tampering.

Our highly experienced evaluation committee will be reviewing the submissions from the novelty of solutions, scalability and impact potential.
