Hyderabad’s favourite ideas festival is back on stage.

TEDxHyderabad – FIRE UP returns on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at Akshaya Convention, Gandipet, Hyderabad, for a full day of stories, ideas and conversations that spark real-world change.

This edition continues TEDxHyderabad’s tradition of bringing together a curated mix of thinkers, doers, innovators and everyday heroes on one red dot — with a theme that feels perfectly tuned to the times.

The Theme: FIRE UP – Ideas. Innovation. Impact.

In a world defined by rapid technological shifts — from AI and quantum to renewable energy and space — FIRE UP is about more than inspiration. It’s about turning that spark into sustained action.

The theme celebrates:

  • The energy that turns curiosity into courage
  • The imagination that fuels innovation
  • The moment when ideas stop living in notebooks and start changing lives

If you’ve ever walked out of a TEDx talk feeling, “I have to do something now,” FIRE UP is that feeling, scaled to an entire day.

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (full-day experience)

First Speakers Announced: Medicine With Heart

TEDxHyderabad has begun unveiling its 2026 speaker line-up, and the first two names set a powerful tone — two physicians whose work sits at the intersection of science, compassion and public service.

Dr. M. Subrahmanyam – Guardian of Dignity

For Dr. M. Subrahmanyam, medicine has never been just about clinical precision — it has always been about dignity and soul.

After advanced fellowships in the UK and USA, he returned to India in 2000 with a mission bigger than personal success:

  • To transform anaesthesia care in India
  • To help bring global standards within reach for patients here

His most profound impact, however, lies outside the operating room. Through Sparsh Hospice, he has been part of delivering free, compassionate end-of-life care, standing beside patients and families in their most vulnerable moments — truly living up to the title “Guardian of Dignity.”

He has been honoured with the “Service Above Self Award” by Rotary International (2025) and currently serves as President of the Indian Association of Pediatric Anaesthesia, embodying what it means to practice medicine with heart.

At TEDxHyderabad – FIRE UP, Dr. Subrahmanyam will share a story of service, sacrifice and social healing — and what it really means to care for life, right till the very end.

Dr. B. Somaraju – Innovator With a Heart

For Dr. B. Somaraju, cardiology is both a medical science and a lifelong meditation on the human heart — in every sense of the word.

Guided by a clear conviction that life-saving cardiac care should be a right, not a privilege, his work has reshaped Indian healthcare:

  • He has been central to pioneering indigenous, world-class cardiac technologies that are also affordable
  • In collaboration with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he helped demonstrate that high-end medical innovation can come from India and still be within reach of ordinary patients

Beyond the thousands of lives saved and the institutions built, his impact is often found in the quiet moments of empathy — listening, reassuring, and honouring “the fragile miracle of every heartbeat.”

On the FIRE UP stage, Dr. Somaraju will speak about humility, service, and making healing accessible to every heart— a conversation where science and compassion meet.

Why This Edition Matters

TEDxHyderabad has always been more than an event; it’s a community of doers.

This year’s FIRE UP edition arrives at a time when:

  • Technology is racing ahead faster than policy, culture and ethics
  • Healthcare and wellbeing are at the centre of public conversation
  • Individuals are asking, “How do I turn my concern into contribution?”

By foregrounding leaders like Dr. Subrahmanyam and Dr. Somaraju, the 2026 edition signals a clear intent:

To explore not just big ideas, but big hearts behind those ideas.

Expect the final line-up to span science, entrepreneurship, social innovation, arts, education, sustainability and more— all through the lens of ideas that move people to act.

Who Should Be In the Room

TEDxHyderabad – FIRE UP is for anyone who:

  • Loves big, well-told stories and bold ideas
  • Wants to reboot their thinking about work, life and impact
  • Is looking for real people, not just buzzwords, to learn from
  • Enjoys being part of a curated, diverse community for a day

You’ll find:

  • Founders and startup teams
  • Corporate and GCC professionals
  • Students and young changemakers
  • Artists, educators, doctors and social entrepreneurs
  • Citizens who simply care about where the world is headed next
