The Biotechnology Ignition Grant
6 years ago Guest - RishithaBIRAC announces 13th call for proposals under the Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) scheme.
The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit, public sector enterprise, set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an interface Agency. BIRAC is inviting proposals from Biotech start-ups and Individual entrepreneurs with innovative idea having potential for commercialisation in fields related to medical/health biotechnology, biopharma and medical devices/biomaterials/diagnostics, agrobiotechnology and animal/marine biotechnology, industrial/ environmental biotechnology and biomass value addition via biotechnology, biotechnology based services/reagents/supplies, bioinformatics and bio-IT interface etc.
The aim of BIRAc is to foster innovation and entrepreneurship and promote affordable innovation in key social sectors. BIRAC also works for the empowerment of start-ups and small medium enterprises and etc. The proposals that get accepted will be offered funding support in the form of grant-in-aid up to Rs.50 lakhs.
BIRAC and the BIG partners will also provide the selected participants with required mentoring, learning and advisory , support , networking opportunities and IP related services.
ABOUT THE SCHEME:
- This scheme enables technology innovators and entrepreneurs to pursue a promising technology idea and establish and validate proof of concept (POC) for ideas
- By funding establishment and validation of POC, BIRAC wishes to help innovators and entrepreneurs advance an idea closer to eventual commercialisation in the form of technology licenses or creation of start-up companies or raising investments for the company.
HOW TO APPLY:
Applicants are required to submit an online application for funding by registering and logging-on the BIRAC website www.birac.nic.in.
