Towards a More Sustainable Future: Recykal

Empty shampoo bottles, used toothbrushes, worn off chargers, empty ink bottles, and pens without refills. Sounds like things that either sit around as junk in your house or trash that goes in the dustbin, doesn’t it? But what if you could earn money from all these seemingly useless debris? Incoming – Recykal. The innovative app by Rapidue Technologies that lets you sell plastic waste at the tip of your fingers!

Recykal has boarded the Digital Revolution train and given it a whole new direction. Its end-to-end cloud-based, full-service waste and recycle-enabling technology focuses
on sustainability by connecting generators, processors & Recyclers. It has made recycling not even easier, but also more lucrative. While the app is primarily crafted for government and industry, it comes with the add-on app Used for household recyclers.

From any smartphone or web browser, users may access Recykal or Uzed via the app or their website, giving them free and instant access to a number of innovative tools that facilitate real-time collection calendar linked to a unique id, registration for waste collection reminders delivered by multiple channels, collection schedule integration with online calendars and printable collection schedules.

According to Abhishek Deshpande, co-founder and CEO, Recykal, the company aims to bring in a new perspective to waste management and recycling, with the focus being on hassle free collection, transparent model and accountable processing. They have emphasized on ensuring that each piece is interconnected and have taken extra care to be inclusive by providing healthcare and insurance services to their collection partners. The company strives to widen the scope of using waste as a resource and provide new opportunities to the people.

Presently in India, about 960 million tonnes of solid waste is being generated annually as by-products during industrial, mining, municipal, agricultural and other processes. Of this ∼350 million tonnes are organic wastes from agricultural sources; ∼290 million tonnes are inorganic waste of industrial and mining sectors and ∼4.5 million tonnes are hazardous in nature. Of the inorganic wastes, only around 20% manages to be recycled. The rest is all around us, choking our planet and endangering habitats for not just other species, but even humans.

A famous saying goes, “We have not inherited our planet from the past but borrowed it from our future.” While most of us are conscious about keeping plastic bags away from our children from the fear of it suffocating them, we forget to apply the same logic to our planet, and its inhabitants in the near future. It is the need of the hour that we grow more aware of what we do with our wastes, for otherwise, we are putting the future of all humankind in great jeopardy.

Given this scenario, Recykal is the hero we all need. It is innovative, eco-friendly, transparent and takes less effort than making your next Instagram post. Epitomizing the idea of “conscious capitalism”, Recykal is the way forward to a cleaner and greener future.
