Corporate Flag Football Event in Hyderabad on 13th July

Think that the football excitement is going to get over with the FIFA finals on the 12th? Not at all! The Elite Football League of India (EFLI) together with Hyderabad Skykings, is hosting the Flag Football Match – Corporate League.

Scheduled on the 13th of July, Sunday, the event is targeted solely at corporate employees in Hyderabad. The primary focus of the event is to create awareness for a healthy lifestyle and promote American Football. Flag Football follows the same rules as American Football expect that it is a non-contact game. Instead of tackling, the opponents have to pull a flag attached to the waist of the ball carrier in order to stop the player.

The popularity of American Football has been increasing gradually in South Asia. Backed by both the Government of India and the sports authority of India, the Elite Football League of India (EFLI) is first men’s professional American football league. Along with teams from Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad, they also have teams from Pakistan and Columbo.

The much loved American sport has made its way to the hearts of Hyderabad. The team, named Hyderabad Skykings joined the EFLI in 2013. A pre-season kickoff event was organized at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad in February with close to 18,000 sports fan in the stadium to support the team.
