  • First Indian Airport to introduce Fastag Parking for its customers
  • In line with Govt. of India’s vision ‘One Nation One Tag – FASTag’
  • A big leap towards digitalization and cashless transactions
  • Dedicated FASTag Lanes with zero wait time
  • Pro-environment

A GMR spokesperson said that passengers and visitors at Hyderabad International Airport are all set to experience a faster entry and exit from the Airport Car Park zone. In line with the Govt. of India’s mission to have ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“One Nation One Tag – FASTag’ and its signature programme of ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“Passenger Is Prime’, GMR led Hyderabad International Airport has introduced India’s first ever ‘FASTag Car Park’ in collaboration with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). Dedicated FASTag Lanes have been created at the entry and exit which ensure zero wait time. The facility has been initially started with ICICI FASTag and will be rolled out through other major banks gradually. Non-FASTag vehicles would continue to use the existing parking system.

Speaking about the roll out of this initiative, Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, said, “We are glad to announce the introduction of India’s first FASTag Parking system at Hyderabad International Airport. This new parking system provides for hassle free and quick movement in the parking zone. It is also aligned with Govt. of India’s efforts for digitalization and cashless transactions. We are thankful to our partner NPCI for its support in implementing this facility. Apart from the regular benefits of FASTag, the system also promotes environmental sustainability viz. fuel saving, reduction in paper use and pollution.”

The FASTag solution is based on a simple to use, reloadable electronic RFID tag which enables automatic deduction of applicable parking charges, while one drives through the car Park without stopping for any cash transaction. This system is being introduced at Hyderabad International Airport for ease of payments and reduces queuing at the entry and exit of the parking lot.

This automated system entails a customer buying the FASTag, which is linked to a prepaid account. The tag employs Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology and needs to be affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen after the tag account is active. The RFID Tag is mapped with NPCI by the issuer bank(s). The subscriber of this system can use the parking without any manual intervention, such as waiting for a parking receipt at the entry or making cash/credit card payment at the exit. There is no additional cost to customers with respect to the parking fee. One has to just purchase a onetime tag which does away with the wait time at entry and exit.

Dedicated FASTag lanes are in place at both entry and exit. When a user arrives through this lane, the strategically placed RFID reader will capture the tag with the timestamp and store the details in the local data base. While exiting, the same will be reconciled and the chargeable parking fee is automatically deducted allowing the passengers to virtually zip through the parking lot in no time. Post completion of every transaction, user will receive SMS on the deducted amount.
