Petfolk – A Pet Parents’ Paradise!
2 years ago Rituka MPets have become an integral part of our lives. With more and more people adopting pets, the pet ecosystem needs to become more connected. Owning a pet with a rare breed has become a status symbol. However, tending to its needs when it is unwell or becomes old is a practice not many follow.
Understanding the need to educate pet parents and help them care for their little fur friends better, Petfolk began. Laxmikanth Puducherri, who is the founder of Petfolk began this one-stop portal for all pet parents. In April, this Hyderabad-based startup launched its app called ‘Petfolk’. It is a location-based comprehensive pet ecosystem app. Moreover, it aims to connect pet parents; lovers; veterinarians; pharmacies; ambulances; and adoptions. This social media platform connects the needs of pets and pet parents.
Petfolk was launched by the IT & Industries Dept. Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan at T-Hub. Being a location-based app, pet parents can arrange play dates for their pets based on filters. These include location, category, breed, and distance. In addition to that, they can also make friends and groups. Further, the app also lets pet parents chat with each other. On the other hand, the app also has other services such as information on pet-friendly areas, pet gardens, pet spas, hostels, boarding, walkers, groomers, and clinics. Further, they can upload & store healthcare records on the app. So that a reminder can be sent in case of any appointments of consults/vaccinations. Above all, pet parents can easily book a supply of pet needs online from a local pet shop network.
Petfolk’s Pet Van
Unveiling their latest project, ‘Pet van’, Petfolk aims to create awareness about various animal issues. In the same vein, the van will move around the city to sensitize people on various pet issues. For example, these issues include pet care, grooming, and pet needs at home. Srinivas Rao Mahankali, Chief Executive Officer of T-Hub flags off the van at T-Hub on Friday.
Subsequently, speaking on the occasion of flagging off the van, Laxmikanth Puducherri, Founder of Petfolk, says; “As lockdown and work from home activity came to end, people are finding it difficult to maintain their pets. Most pet animals are being left out and often not cared about.†The main aim of the van is to create awareness. Therefore, this will be done by visiting gated communities & societies to tell people how the pets can be cared for in their absence.
In conclusion, although pets cannot express their feelings in our language, it is important for us to be able to understand them and care for them in the right manner.
