An insight into the Story telling for Founders’ event

On the 2nd October 2015 when the entire nation was in a holiday mood, a lot of entrepreneurs took this as an opportunity to learn, network and share and thus made their way to 91SpringBoard –  Kavuri Hills, Hyderabad to attend the ‘Story Telling for Founders’ event.

As one can understand from the name, the basic agenda of the event was to allow entrepreneurs from different spheres to come forward and share their startup stories. Paritosh Sharma from PayUMoney, started the Story Telling for Founders’ initiative along with Tarun, Founder of LearnMor.com.  Paritosh is planning to take the initiative across India to various cities, along with PayUMoney’s India Growth Drivers initiative.  The event witnessed 35 attendees with Lead Sponsors like  PayUMoney, LearnMor.com, and partners like Start-Up Hyderabad, 50K Ventures, 91SpringBoard, and The Mentorpreneurs.

This event resulted to be a thought provoking event for a lot of the people present there as they not only met like-minded people but also got an opportunity to listen to famous success stories. Paritosh Sharma from PayUMoney spoke about the impact of good story telling. He shared real stories from his personal life and some great examples of storytelling from some of the top companies.

Mr. Paritosh was the lead speaker for the day as he first spoke about his personal experiences and then provoked others in the audience to come forward and share their experiences as well. While sharing one of his personal stories he spoke about how they took Hike Messenger from 0 to 5 million users. The story goes like this – “Young women were one of Hike’s target markets. They observed that most women use a paper napkin to clean their hands after they eat at a restaurant or a canteen. Some even carry a few and keep it in their handbag or car for later use. So they started a referral program using the paper napkin. Essentially, they printed a unique link on 5 lakh paper napkins, if a user typed that link on a mobile browser they would download Hike Messenger and receive Rs 50. They will only be able to redeem that Rs 50 if they invited 2 other friends to download Hike. This campaign was highly successful and helped Paritosh and team at Hike achieve their downloads target. “

Paritosh’s talk was followed by Q&A and then the floor was left free for rapid networking. By the end of the event, every attendee walked out of the hall feeling more confident and with few more peer networks that they knew would last long.

The second Story Telling for Founders’ event was held in Kolkata on the 10th of October.
