American Football National Championship 2016

The 6^th American National American Football Championship to be held in the city on the 28th & 29th of January at the Gachibowli Stadium.

Gear up all football freaks because the all famous American Football Federation of India(AFFI) is set to conduct a 2 day event in the city, where 8 state teams will compete with each other. There are also high chances for a national squad to be selected out of these participating teams.

The American Football Federation of India (AFFI) is striving to make this event as unique as possible. As usual, the two-day sporting gala will surely have eight-a-side and the rest of the unpredictable nature of the game is promised to exceed the imagination quotient of the audience. A total of 8 State teams will be there to play the game, which will be representing as many Indian states as possible, who will take part in 19 nail-biting contests. This precedes the most important event of selecting probable’s or the National Squad to represent the Indian flag in the days to come.

The 8 teams include Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan Tamilnadu and Telangana. Through this event the Federation plans to take forward the game into root levels as well as building talent for international participation. American Football Federation of India has been on a run to developing this sport and talent ever since India was granted full IFAF membership in 2008. The Federation comprises 19 member-state organizations and has been holding events at various levels especially U19 and U15 under tackle and flag football events. The top qualifying teams now meet at the national event overseen by officials. Currently, American Football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world being played by 71 countries and likely to get official entry into the Olympics soon.

American Football has a completely distinct element that mixes speed, reflexes, technique and also energy. We see a lot of enthusiasm among the youngsters and this National Championship will surely bring the best out of them, with the motivation being selection for the national squad. We look forward to two days of grand action here in Hyderabad,” reported one of the officials of the federation.

So, gear up people to witness the oval shaped ball flying from one goal post to another while the helmet wearing team players come forward to score as much as they can.
