GDG – Google Developer Group has organized its fest for the 6th time in Hyderabad. GDG Devfests are large and community-run events that can offer speaker sessions about different updating technologies and products. Each GDG DevFest will be inspired and uniquely tailored to the needs of the developer community that hosts it.The fest happened for a day and involved audience engaging sessions with profound speakers from the eminent community of coders and founders to explain tech and its trends. The buzz words of the decade like Data Science , Machine Learning are introduced to the crowd in the best possible ways to inculcate the spirit of learning in every individual that has attended the fest. It is the biggest Google related event in Hyderabad carefully crafted by GDG community! With a bird view filtration of picking up 250 applicants out of 1400 registrations itself shows us how specific and focused they were in hosting the event and bringing the best out of it.

The Devfest started with the welcome address by the GDG team followed by a list of speaker sessions on advanced tech. The speakers include Mr Shubhash konda, a senior Microsoft engineer gave a familiarizing session about Demystifying of Machine Learning in Real Time. As he says it is all about data and what we derive from it in form of analysis will define the future research fields. An elaboration about how man view the data and a machine way of understanding data is quite interesting.

The second speaker of the day is a serial Tech Entrepreneur and Full Stack Developer Mr Raj Desai ,who is currently running SOAL – a new age system of learning designed for the future of technology and his words about deep tech are a part of interest to the every coding geek attended the event. He gave an overview of how we can build and run a neural network using the tools provided by TensorFlow.

And the third session is owned by Mr Madhu Vadlamani ,an analytics expert from kony labs is up there to  explain the developers view of design-The new mind-set which can make things easy. A humorous situation where he said that his love for analytics made him think to name his new born baby as “Analytica” has just broke the silence of the crowd. Well that was a great talk and humorous indeed !!

There came the next speaker Mr Praveen Puglia, a CSS hard-core lover who demonstrated his previous works and gave a little demo about building cool and fast designs using CSS. His love and passion for CSS is something we can’t ignore while watching him explaining about the cool CSS stuff.

The fourth speaker of the day Mr.Syed Anwaarullah , the founder of potential labs has presented a session about “DIY Google Home with Google Assistant on a Raspberry pi”. He also explained and spoke about the customization of the responses from the similar devices like Alexa followed by a  quick Q&A session where the audience came up with their queries made this session a brainstorming one for all after a yummy lunch. The consecutive talk by Mr Neil Gosh has extended the session with the similar concept , where  he demonstrated building our own Google Assistant actions using Dialog Flow ( formerly API.AI)  is  an eye catching session for the developers and Voice assistant researchers.

The sessions continued by the rest of the speakers like Aditi Chansoria , a user experience designer and accessibility researcher who explained about the talk-back accessibility feature that is used in the android phones to make the phones usable by users who are visually impaired. A new dimension of looking at the problems from the differently able people’s perspective made the designers and developers think about the possible solutions to improve the accessibility feature towards a better user experience.

Mr Gaurav Sharma ,a principal engineer from pramati technologies gave first session of Android track on building android app using kotlin and explained about advantage using kotlin over java.Mr.Venkata Dinesh from IVY comptech gave an interesting  pep talk on why he believes that Flutter is the future of Mobile development and how easy it is to build an app using flutter. The last session was held by Mr. Pankaj Rai from Purple talk explaining about the constraints Layout and Real-time Database with Cloud Firestore. A needful talk about how to get started with cloud firestore structural changes with firestore and rules to be followed while pushing data to firestore gave a perfect closing for back to back innovative sessions.

With lots of tech talks and endless fireside chats , we can say this year devfest has reached its all time mark. Cheers to all the organizers who have conducted this event. Many more years to go on with the same spirit of connecting and building a strong community of passionate developers!!

OK Google , see u next year !!
