Entrepreneurship in Residence(EIR) fellowship program at IIIT-Hyderabad

IIIT-Hyderabad is known for its leading research in the country. It manages its entrepreneurial and technology outreach efforts through the CIE(Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship). This incubator was created in 2008 to aid IIIT-H, in managing its intellectual property portfolio, identify collaborative opportunities with the industry, and above all to support entrepreneurial activity in Hyderabad by creating a startup hub to push forward the city’s ambition to be a startup powerhouse. CIE IIITH is one of the largest academic technology incubators in India. It was started with the vision of commercialising its technologies in its research centres.

CIE is now focusing on deep-tech startups by seeding the startups directly out of research and actively connecting research with the startups. After housing over 80 startups and currently running two accelerators(one for deep-tech, and one for medtech), CIE has an active part in the city’s startup ecosystem. IIIT-H has now launched its Entrepreneurship In Residence(EIR) fellowship program under the NIDHI-EIR scheme. This is a co-creation model that enables the entrepreneurs to leverage research outputs from the IIIT-H labs, helping the deep-tech startups with social or commercial applications. This is intended to support early-stage entrepreneurs by providing incubator support and access to the best mentor network. It also provides access to IIIT-H’s research and its professors.

IIIT-H welcomes all full-time entrepreneurs to apply for the fellowship program. Also, entrepreneurs with a business model but no established company, entrepreneurs with a company but no revenue and students graduating in 2019 can also apply. The solution proposed must have AI/ML/VR/AR/Robotics powered tech. A stipend up to 30,000 will be provided to the lead entrepreneur for a period up to 12-18 months. Once you apply, the team at IIIT-H, CIE will shortlist the candidates, within a week of applying. The shortlisted candidates will then be called for a screening interview with the selection committee at IIIT-Hyderabad.
