India’s First Voice Based Home Automation System

logo-echosystemImagine living in a house where you do not have to get up from the couch to turn the lights on or to find the remote. Only if your house could hear your commands and control your home appliances, it will seem like the home of tomorrow right, except its a thing of today! Echosystem is your solution- India’s first voice based home automation system, where a network of devices and sensors work cohesively to make sure that you live like a king. Commands are executed wirelessly while you can enjoy the truly hands-free smart home experience by delegating most of your mundane tasks off to your virtual house keeper- Sakura.

Echosystem was developed by hyderabad based start-up Amaterasu Electronics, co-founded by four batch mates from BITS Pilani. With Echosystem, they made it to the top 10 regional finalists in Microsoft Bizspark India Startup Challenge 2013. Also, they were selected for Pitch Presentations in TechCrunch 2013, where they were given a chance to present Echosystem on the stage before a live audience, including a panel of fifty investors and expert judges. As a company, they are focused on creating solutions around smart living concepts, bringing the internet of things to the homes. In the words of Hardeep Singh Khera, Director (Marketing and Sales):

“At home we now have a number of appliances and devices, they are controlled by a touch of a remote button or a switch. We as users act as mechanical actuators for these primitive control options. The internet has enabled us to live in a connected online ecosystem, the appliances and things though are disconnected. We intended to change that, hence we built Echosystem!”

Truly, Echosystem gives a new direction to the smart home technology. Echo integrates easily with every electrical and electronic device in your home, enabling you to control them either via voice commands or by the smart phone/tablet application. For example to turn on the lights, just say “Sakura, lights on” or tap the power button on the application. Not just power, other functions like AC temperature and the TV channel can also be controlled in a similar fashion.

Furthermore, a routine of switching actions can be clubbed together to form a mode. For example, clicking on the exit mode you can switch everything off when you leave home. You can define a morning routine of waking up to natural light, have the kettle brew a fresh cup of coffee, have the water heated for a refreshing bath, and the TV switching to your preferred news channel as you have your breakfast. Customization options of setting modes go as far as your imagination can take you!

What’s more… Echosystem makes your home so guarded that security breach is a worry of the past. You can use live camera feeds to monitor kids and see who is your guest before you answer the doorbell. With electronic locks the door can be released remotely as well! Alerts for parameter breach or movement in the house when you are away can be modeled. The app provides the options to preset actions based on severity.

The application allows you to set certain ground rules like switching off the TV when you doze off on the couch. It optimizes your energy usage both devices-wise and room-wise and also nudges you to save energy by showing the usage via different report. Monitoring your daily electricity usage helps you in avoiding wastage and spares you a shock at the end of the month.

Thinking of installing it? It can be installed at any location be it your home or office without any hassle. So whether you are setting up a new home or looking to upgrade your existing home, it can be easily integrated with your electrical circuits. Your smart home is just a call away… http://amaterasu.co.in/contact/
