Made in India ‘ACCORD’ Robot from Hyderabad to Kill COVID-19
4 years ago Tata TejaHyderabad-based robotics company H-Bots Robotics, which earlier built a smart policing robot, is now building a robot called Accord Robot that will help hospitals, airports, malls, and offices to screen people for Coronavirus and disinfect rooms. Besides meeting the needs of the domestic market, once the lockdown is lifted in India, the company looks to export it, particularly to the European nations.
From the day India is under lockdown, H-Bots initiated 5 key initiatives in effort of contributing to the nation.
1) Due to lockdown, H-Bots understood many distress calls to be raised, in association with an NGO S.P.E.W, H-Bots activated 24/7 toll free number to receive the calls from people in need.
2) Before addressing any problem, the first important thing is to make sure everyone gets proper food in time, inspired by many across the nation, H-Bots started no hunger truck from day one of lockdown, which is providing food in key areas of Hyderabad along with groceries distribution with the support many students & employees across the city.
3) Woman can understand a woman better, providing sanitary pads to distress women to keep them healthy.
4) The pandemic created many confusions among the public, to address that, we activated our AI based chatbot to do the corona self-assessment test on the 3rd day of lockdown.
5) Now addressing the real issue, with our upcoming robot to help all the frontline staff to stop the spread of Corona. ‘Accord Robot’
The company, which has started taking orders, expects to start making and supplying robots from end of May. It uses its inhouse capabilities in the IoT, AI, automation, analytics, and hardware prototyping amongst others.
The robot is used as part of the regular cleaning cycle or sterilization cycle and aims at preventing and reducing the spread of infectious diseases, virus, bacteria, and other types of harmful organic micro-organisms in the environment by breaking down their DNA structure & Contactless temperature screening.
Harshitha Puvvala, Co-Founder & Project Director, H-Bots Robotics, told Startup Hyderabad, “We have been working on a health care robot more than a year now, with the Coronavirus outbreak, we started working on a specific robot in the last one month that will help in contactless screening people, disinfect rooms and offer information management system to hospitals. We had to redesign the model that we had been working on.â€ÂÂ
“Our Accord Robot specially designed for hospitals, airports, and offices can disinfect a room in 10-15 minutes with its UV (ultraviolet) technology, provides a self-navigation system and detects the temperature of a human being also some models come with contactless screening doorway cabin, which can be used at the entrance of public places. It also comes with a facial recognition system to analyse every visitor and patient. If used for hospitals, the robot comes up with an additional featureâ€â€ÂHospital Information Management System (HIMS) and Doctor-Patient Virtual Interaction. Clients are provided with a user-friendly dashboard,†she added.
It is going to be a fully ‘Made in India’ robot. Certain components are coming from Chennai, Mumbai, Pune & Delhi, while the entire design, artificial intelligence and development of the robot is happening in Hyderabad in H-Bots Robotics. The production takes place in our plant at Bachupally, Hyderabad.
Kisshhan Psv, Founder & CEO, H-Bots Robotics said, and the company got orders for accord from pan India. In the first batch they are going to deliver 10+ accord robots outside by this month end. They also plans to make 50-60 robots per month in the lockdown scenario, which can be scaled up to 400 units per month, depending on the orders. The robots will be made in two different variants, one would weigh around 80-90 kgs while the advanced version with HIMS will weigh 110 kgs. Accord pricing is 90% less compared to the same segment robots in other countries. This is more of a social project for us, than the commercial elements in it.
Our first robot, smart policing robot was technically successful project, but commercially it did not give us satisfactory results, hence as a startup we started facing issues like another, but our core team never gave up, we made sure H-Bots is live, and been doing lot research on certain projects, with our presence at CES-2020 literally changed the game of H-Bots Robotics. This year we have 4 products in pipeline among which Accord, Security & Warehouse Robots are in production, Virtual Education & Research platform hlabs.ai, and our expansion to United States of America, Canada & Europe.
I would clearly say, last 2 years of our learnings & struggles made us very strong. we have now the most aggressive team. All this helped us to come back with H-BOTS 2.0.
