3 years ago Rituka MRealising his passion for agriculture, Dr. Kishore Indukuri reached back to his agricultural roots when he decided to quit his ambitious job in the US and return back to India.
Being back in India, he recognized the need for unadulterated dairy products at an affordable cost. With 20 cows in 2012 and a vision for natural and healthy dairy products, he began on his journey to set up his own dairy farm and an eminent milk brand. With his farm set up in Shamshabad, he began to supply milk directly to consumers on a subscription basis.
Officially registering his company in 2016, he named it ‘Sid’s farm’, taken after his sons’ name, who gave him the inspiration and impetus to start on this journey. With an initial investment of Rs. 1 crore, the venture started to gain customers rapidly, forcing the demand for the products higher.
A further investment of Rs. 2 crores, and an additional Rs. 1.3 crores raised as a bank term loan, the company established its first fully-owned, permanent manufacturing facility in Shabad in 2018. Living up to their vision of providing 100% natural dairy products, the milk undergoes 26 tests based on FSSAI legal standards across parameters such as adulterants, antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, and quality (shelf life).
Targeting millennial parents, and any health-conscious citizens looking for unadulterated pure milk, our D2C products are available through our app, where the customers can subscribe either on monthly, or a day-to-day basis. Currently serving a postpaid model for the subscription, the Hyderabad-based startup plans to venture into the prepaid model in the coming months as well.
Apart from sale through the app, Sid’s farm has partnered with over 100 stores in the general and modern trade formats, and are available on online grocery delivery services such as BBdaily/Big Basket, Swiggy, Dunzo, Supr Daily, Amazon, and Qubag to name a few.
Addressing a huge gap in the market for diversified dairy products in Hyderabad, Sid’s Farm cashed in on this opportunity and delivered various key-offering products ranging from whole cow’s milk, whole buffalo’s milk, skim milk, cow’s butter, cow’s ghee, buffalo’s butter, buffalo’s ghee, cow’s curd, buffalo’s curd, and their latest addition natural paneer (Soft & Creamy).
Their USP being the non-employment of preservatives, antibiotics or hormones in the milk, hence allowing the paneer to remain fresh and soft. Priced at Rs. 120 for a 200-gm packet, Sid’s Farm plans to grab a share from the Indian paneer market pie and become a regional brand across Telangana.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Indukuri said, “Our other dairy products have become a favourite amongst the consumers in Telangana. With our entire dairy product range, we aim to claim considerable market share and increase the fondness of Paneer amongst households and children. Our natural paneer has a shelf life of maximum three days as compared to our competitors with shelf life of 12-15 days. This proves the quality of the product we are launching”. With an aim to build their product portfolio, Sid’s Farm intends to expand into more districts around Hyderabad and Bangalore, and become a household name. Additionally, to build the trust in the brand, and allow a fun and educational experience into the back-end operations involved in bringing the freshest milk from the cows to your refrigerators.
Sid’s Farm invites schools and individual families on discovery tours and farm events, where the kids and families gain an insight into how the cows are milked to a walk through the milk processing plant.
