Bucker – A smart all-in-one platform

3 IIITians – Vennela Miryala, Ravneet Singh and Nikhar Agarwal came together with the zeal to solve this universal problem, and in return also save up on our phone memory space wasted installing multiple single purpose mobile apps! Bucker is the solution to this task of installing multiple mobile apps that we use only once in awhile wasting time, internet packs and RAMs on our phones. Bucker lets you search, compare and book the cheapest flights across 15+ providers. It also allows users to compare prices across online 50+ shopping apps and gets to its users India’s best coupons for online shopping and cab booking. All of this, just in ONE single app.

With Bucker on your device, you are always assured you’ll never have to search between multiple providers and/or find coupons to pay the cheapest price. Bucker automates it all. Booking a flight? Just put in the destinations and the dates. And Voila! A seamless list of all the flights from multiple providers like MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Expedia with the cheapest price checked, including coupons appears on the screen. You just have to select the flight and your booking is done in 3 steps.

And there’s more. Bucker can not only get you the best option, it also tries to learn your preferences and habits all while working in the background. For instance, if you book a cab back from work every day at around 6 pm, Bucker will track the trend and after a few days it will already have a cab card with the best option on the top of your home screen around that time.

Bucker currently serves 4 verticals – cabs, shopping, flights and coupons. Soon to be added verticals are recharge and food ordering within the next month.

As mentioned, Bucker is the baby of 3 IIITians – Vennela Miryala, Ravneet Singh and Nikhar Agarwal. As a bunch of 18 year olds and living away from home, they had quite limited pocket money. But surprisingly, that never stopped them from wanting to watch all the latest movies, eat the yummiest food and go to the dreamiest of places. Having to have the best, they did everything from finding the best coupons, comparing across a thousand apps to find the best price, creating new accounts to get the new user discounts. That was when they realized the difficulty that exists while trying to avail the best services at the best price. What started off in such a silly way led them to deeper inquires. From then on, they started having access to a large data set of activity logs, network calls and RAM usage of users through which they started noticing patterns. They observed that there were multiple redundant network calls (like multiple apps picking up GPS), notifications and even apps installs which would later remain unused for months together after a single use. A rough estimate showed them that the data usage could be reduced by 20%. An even overloaded and not optimally used resource was RAM. Up to 36% of app uninstalls came due to running out of memory.

“That’s when we said we need to build a platform that would knit and bring services to users in a seamless fashion through APIs. Not only would that save the user of unoptimized usage of his resources, it would help us  recommend services for the users. That was when we started building a quick prototype we took the idea to AngelHack Hackathon and stood as the winners for the Hyderabad zone. Then, we went on to participate in the global level of the Hackathon and came back with quite some interest from a bunch of investors. We later went on to close our seed round in December.” Says the proud triplet team of this amazing startup.

Over the last 7 months, Bucker has grown into a community of 60,000+ users and are growing steadily. Bucker is very focused on knitting user’s favourite services in a seamless manner so as to eliminate the need for downloading multiple apps for simple needs and learning the user across verticals to recommend better services to the customers. Thus saving time, precious space on devices and internet packs wasted.
