The GeekAngels – Hack Day exclusively for the women

In today’s fast growing world, women are not behind in any sphere. Be it computers, hospitality or corporate businesses. Infact, the Government is also not leaving any stone unturned to encourage and allow women to take the lead and walk hand in hand with the other gender towards the growth of the nation and world as a whole.

The computer field is also fast growing and today internet and websites have become an integral part of one’s life. But, we have heard majority of developers to be males. What about those women who have a hand in the development of awesome websites?

It is time to recognize and applaud their efforts and achievement too. Keeping this as the theme, Geek Angels is all set to organize a Hack Day for all existing and aspiring women developers. This is a 24-hour Hackathon, where the women will be working together to design a solution for a real world challenge. This initiative aims at igniting the problem solving capabilities of the participants. The main focus is to empower women in Technology and provide them an opportunity to discover their potential.

The Geek Angels is a one-stop hub to learn, share, ideate, innovate, collaborate and develop solutions for the problems in this world. It provides a platform to work with people from varied fields and learn cutting edge technologies. We help the participants to get the best of the time spent which in turn propels their career prospects.

The 24-hour event is open to all women, who will work collaboratively to design a website, game, or mobile app that addresses a selected real world challenge.

The event is all set to happen on 26th December 2015.

Prior to the event – The registered participants need to make a team. The team is supposed to ideate on the solution of the problem and determine the approach for the solution. They can also go ahead and assign tasks among the team members.

On the event days (26th and 27th December 2015) – They will be judged on appropriateness to theme, user experience & functionality, originality & impact and technical approach.

Post Event – After the extensive hacking competition, get a chance to get mentored by experts, experience the team following up on projects, showcase your talents and attend the pitching session. And last but not the least, you never know – your efforts were noticed and you are up for appreciation and awards.

No prior programming experience is required and registration is free.  There may be up to 6 people in a team. Prior to the event, teams can plan, storyboard, and determine what they want to do and how they will go about building their solution. The only forewarning is that no programming is allowed until the day of the event.
