Germany’s Fresenius buys 85% stakes in city based Sparsh Nephrocare

With loads of innovation and out of the box ideas that convert into startups, investors are having a tough time deciding on where to invest. There are investors who reach out to startups directly and then there are those top notch investors, who are wanted by most of the startups.

Germany’s based Fresenius is one among those and is known to be the world’s largest provider of services and products needed for renal diseases. This company has officially announced its investment in Sparsh Home Dialysis, a city based startup that offers technological solutions to make home dialysis a reality!

Fresenius is into medical care and provides dialysis treatments for approximately 294,043 patients around the globe through its well established network of 3,432 dialysis clinics spread across the world. They have bought out 85% stakes in the city based startup. This investment allowed a space for Tata Capital Healthcare Fund to make an exit from investing in Sparsh – Tata had invested Rs. 20 crore with a 26% stake in the startup 2 years ago.

Sparsh Nephrocare was founded by 2 IIT Bombay graduates Saurav Panda and Gaurav Porwal along with Rajeev Sindhi back in 2010. With Tata being their early investors this startup was successful in developing a system that enabled remote management of dialysis patients. The trip team came up with an ERP based solution that helped them team streamline their patient’s medical data and information along with the internal day to day activities and operations of the dialysis center.

“This information can be accessed online by both patients and doctors in order to track the progress of the dialysis treatment and the individual patient’s health.” says Saurav Panda.

“Sparsh, with its differentiated business model, is the right platform for us to establish ourselves in the under-penetrated Indian market,” said Punit Kohli, managing director, Fresenius Medical Care India Pvt. Ltd. “Sparsh management team will form an integral part of FMC’s India dialysis services strategy.”

Currently,  Sparsh Nephrocare is well established and has over 50 centers in small towns and cities across various states in the country. The dialysis center is spreading its operations by starting their centers within well-established hospitals rather than setting up standalone hubs.

StartupHyderabad congratulates the entire team for this investment and we wish them good luck and great success in the future. We hope that this investment bring both the firms laurels and they keep growing towards their goals.
