31 students of 12 top schools formed 6 teams and pitched their ideas at the TYE Innovation Challenge on Sunday.
TiE Hyderabad today announced the winners of TYE innovation challenge, Young Entrepreneurs from different schools of Hyderabad learn Entrepreneurship 101 from TiE Mentors, who are accomplished charter members of TiE or Successful Entrepreneurs from Hyderabad. The students compete by pitching their business plans to an esteemed panel of judges. This season, 31 students from 12 top schools from across the city formed 6 teams and pitched their innovative solutions. Mr. Xavier Augustin, The Founder & CEO of Y-Axis Overseas, TiE Chapter President – Mr. Suresh Reddy CEO & Chairman – Brightcom & Mr. Kali Prasad, Past President – TiE Hyderabad gave away the awards to the winning teams.
There were quite a few interesting pitches that were noteworthy innovative business ideas; the jury declared Carbonation team as winners for their business plan of Charcoholism. Team Pentadactyl on the other hand won the runner up position for their plan- WarnCup.
In his address after giving away the awards Mr. Xavier Augustin, lauded TiE Hyderabad to pull the event of such a magnitude, He suggested that TiE should take this platform by making Entrepreneurship education more widespread within students. Such programs will encourage the next generation to hone up life skills necessary to face future challenges and create simpler solutions rather than worrying about problems.
Earlier in the month of October 2018, TiE Hyderabad launched their 8th edition of TYE. A total of 79 students applied from 20 schools in twin cities. A selected batch of 31 students underwent a rigorous curriculum on entrepreneurship and other business topics in 12 sessions, including 3 team mentoring sessions and an innovation challenge on the grand finale that concluded on 20th January, 2019.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Suresh Reddy, (President – TiE Hyderabad & CEO of Brightcom) The TiE team has put in their best efforts in scaling and evolving this unique program so successfully over the last many years. He also added Entrepreneurship is completely about taking risks and the grit to make it successful. Entrepreneurship is the new religion, glad to see the young ones adopting it fearlessly. Everyone who made it to the final pitches are already winners.
Congratulating the winners Kali Prasad Gadiraju (Past President, TiE Hyderabad and Office Managing Partner, E&Y Hyderabad) said “This new generation is a restless one, they have had uninterrupted flow of everything a previous gen would consider scarce. He expressed his appreciation to all participants & asked them to take their innovative ideas seriously and help the world by solving the real time problems that are bothering many people.
During the TYE course the participants interacted with many seasoned entrepreneurs, from TiE organisation. The structured program offered by TiE Hyderabad included a day-long session on Design Thinking by experts and a team bonding/ group working session by HR professionals.
The jury members along with President, Past-President, Program Co-Chairs, Mentors and other Board Members of TiE Hyderabad were present at the award ceremony. The esteemed jury included Ms Hema Balakrishnan – Founder Color D Earth, Mr. Alekh Barli, CEO – Intellibot.io, Dr. P Rantakar -Vice President & Practice Head, Life Sciences – Tech Mahindra.
The Co-Chair Mr. Venkatesh Narasimhan, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technologies Redpine Signals Inc & Board Member of TiE Hyderabad Chapter 2019 said – “The TYE programme is unique. With 9 Sundays of classes followed by five weeks of mentorship and preparation, while continuing with school works, the students create business plans on their special ideas and present it with utmost confidence, delving into every nuance of a venture – expounding on CAGR, cash flow, gross margins, the use of blockchain, and many business concepts, which real entrepreneurs with an MBA often struggle with. We sincerely think this programme not only sow the seeds of entrepreneurship in them, but also puts them on the direct path to becoming leaders in life.
Adding to this the Co-Chair Mr. Viiveck Verma-Chief Strategy Officer, Srinivasa farms, said: It is very encouraging to see the Young Entrepreneurs taking responsibility to change the future by solving real life problems and creating a businesses out of it. This is our contribution not just to Entrepreneurship but also to nation building. The unique thing about the TYE program is that it’s entirely run by Entrepreneurs and developing mindset of entrepreneurship in children.
Team Carbonation namely Sohini(Chirec International), Vedant Hachan (Chirec Public School), Sathvik Sai Kaza(Oakridge International School), Kushal (Delhi Public School), Anusai Dasari (Oakridge International School) who are mentored by Mr. Murali Kakarla (CEO, Innobox System Pvt Ltd) were declared the Winners of TYE Innovation Challenge 2018-19.
Team Pentadactyl namely G Vineeth (DRS International School), Donna Thakker(Chirec International School),Shashank (Bharathi Vidya Bhavan), Ridah Shaistah(Oakridge International School) & Ananya Shah (Aga Khan Academy) mentored by Mr. Pranav Shah (CEO, Enter Pi), were declared the Runners-up of TYE innovation challenge 2018-19.
Students from top schools of twin cities such as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Jubilee Hills, Aga Khan Academy, Chirec International, Delhi Public School, Glendale Academy International, Jubilee Hills Public School, Oakridge International School, Sadhu Vaswani International Schools & various other participated in this program.
