Information Technology in India is a crucial part of the economy in the 21st century. Since the boom of the software industry towards the end of the 20th century saw a growth of job openings in various IT and IT-enabled companies in India. Additionally, India also looked forward to a chunk of outsourcing job being delegated to its newly established companies. Software exports to different countries were looked upon with great prospects because of the presence of some of the best people in the Indian software development sector.

The role played by the Hyderabad IT companies in the growth of the software industry in India has been an important one. Since 1990, Hyderabad has seen a steady growth of IT companies establishing their offices and headquarters in the city. When we are specifically talking about IT and Hyderabad, HYSEA (The Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, is playing an important role as an Apex body since its inception in 1991. Initially, HYSEA helped software companies overcome their teething problems by providing them guidance and support. HYSEA’s role over the year expanded to playing a pivotal role in helping the government formulate appropriate policies and extending help in the creation of simpler and more effective procedures needed for the growth of the industry.

On a number of occasions, their contribution to the deliberations of the committee was acknowledged and appreciated by the Department. The attempt has always been to create an enabling eco-system for the Industry to prosper and also for the benefit of all stakeholders, including society at large. HYSEA has been organising/championing the activities including – Working with the Government on Policy formulation & implementation, Provide opportunities with trade delegations, Improving the Security in the Technology District, organising workshops on leadership, Latest Technologies, various community initiatives, CEOs forum, Annual Day, Technology day, SMEs forum, HR forum, etc. HYSEA has been a significant contributor to the growth of IT & ITES sectors in Hyderabad.
