Tips for Presenting Better

Starting up is a tedious task. You have to do everything from scratch – from the inception of the firm to luring suppliers, vendors, and convincing customers to buy your ideas. You also have to talk to investors and present your ideas in front of them. Don’t you agree with the fact that the way you present makes the difference?

Consider this scenario – you have a fantastic idea, but you are poor at making the presentation and you hardly know the tricks and tips to use PowerPoint more effectively. Then what? How will you lure the investors and how will you convince them that you have just what they want?

Here are few essentials that you must keep in mind while delivering a presentation – to any kind of audience:

1. Use content that will grab and hold the attention of the audience
Just lecturing or talking about facts and figures might bore the audience. Instead of only texts, fill in your talk with real-life examples, funny moments and jokes (relevant to the topic and audience). Do not go overboard with anything. Make sure your presentation is a mix of essentials plus little fun here and there, provided the audience allows you to do so.

2. Be enthusiastic and loud
Would you like to listen to somebody who himself is not sure about what he is speaking? So, keep yourself in the place of the listener, and then decide your energy levels. Make sure your voice is audible to the last person seated in the room. You can always check this with them at the beginning by asking them if you’re audible or not.

3. Pause, and let the audience interact with you
Do not settle in for a monotony of speech. Practice where to pause and how to pause. Allow audiences to interact, and ask questions in between. This way you will be able to understand how far the audience is paying attention.

4. Make sure you are covering all important points
While talking about your new firm, it is important for you to state all important facts and figures about your company truthfully to the audience. This way you will leave no scope of doubt in the minds of the audience plus they will have a clear picture of your startup.

5. Have a strong introduction and conclusion
It has been observed that audiences pay high attention to introduction and conclusion. So, keep these two aspects strong. If your introduction was splendid, your half work is done, because everybody is bound to hear you out, if they like you for the first time.

6. Do not stuff your slides with text
It is important to make the content more appealing. Only text will give a negative impression to the audience. Keep it pleasing with bullet points, pictures and as little text as possible.
The great thing about presenting is that there are so many different styles of doing the same thing. Some speak fast, some slow. Some are very enthusiastic while some are very calm and composed. The key is to learn how to be yourself, even in front of a crowd.

Everybody has their own style of presenting. Use your own style and combine them with the above-mentioned tips and see how your presentation automatically becomes magical.

Stay tuned with us to know how to make your MS PowerPoint more appealing.
