Blogging is an art. If done correctly, regularly and with interest it is the best way to make your business more known to your customers. A powerful blog is a way to show your grip on the product/service and it helps you position yourself better in the market. A well written blog will add to your startup’s uniqueness and will make you stand different from that of your competitors.

Effective blogging needs some investment – time, use of good words and highlighting the right sentences at the right time. A blog written in hurry or out of interest is a blog gone waste. There are certain attributes like short sentences, systematic order of ideas, correct usage of words etc that a blogger must keep in mind in order to hold the attention of the reader till the end.

Blogging isn’t a learning of one day. Some bloggers learn it with experience and some by taking courses. Here are some tips that you can keep in mind while indulging in blogs –

Use headings whenever you can

Headings and sub – headings help to grab attention of the reader. Speaking out of personal experience, when I read blogs before engrossing myself into the content, I have a look at the structure. If I find some interesting or related headings and sub – headings, that is what keeps me up on the article instead of just skipping it.

Keep your audience in mind – throughout!

It is quite common to see that the blog begins with one idea and a group of audience in mind, but by the time the blog comes to an end, it looks diverted from its initial idea. Ensure that you keep your audience in mind till the end and make sure you continue to communicate the purpose of the blog from the start to end.

Keep your blogs active and work on it regularly

For the first few months, you are very active, come up with a new write up every fortnight and the audience love your work. Then suddenly you get too busy in your startup as it is growing and Boom – your blogs have not been active in that period. Your audience will initially wait for you write and then when nothing comes up, they will lose interest. You surely don’t want this to happen right? You obviously did not start blogging for this. To ensure that you spend some time on your writing every now and then you can setup calendar reminders in your mailbox or can set up reminders in your phone. Inactive blogs are big NO for blogging.

Stop selling and start connecting

Blogs are meant to connect with your readers or potential customers. Do not directly sell a service/product through your blogs. There are a lot of ways to tell your audience great stories – quote and unquote famous people, share info that will be useful to them. Relate your ideas with your personal experiences or connect with instances with daily lives of your audiences. This way the readers will be able to connect better to your blogs and this will generate more interest for your writings.

Use social media and digital marketing to leverage your posts

Use digital media effectively to spread the word about their blogs, products and startup. Google Adwords, SEO, SMO is all for you – use them to the best of your advantage and let more and more people know about your ideas, blogs and startup.

Create a group of similar bloggers

You may not know but there may be lot of other people who share the same ideas as you do. Through blogging clubs or blogging sites you get to meet such people and get to read their stories and learn about their style of writing. Connect with like-minded people. By doing so, you will get exposure by discussing about common topics and by reading each other’s write ups. Also, when you write something share it with them and allow them to let their contacts know about your blogs. Great way to spread the word right?

While blogging, do not try to write like another person. You are unique and so is your style of writing. More the writing you will do, more you will learn. So, keep writing and keep learning. Happy blogging!
