ProLearn, an AI-native education startup founded by IIIT Hyderabad alumnus Ravneet Singh, has raised ₹30 crore in pre-seed funding to build a personalised learning companion for students.

The round was led by BEENEXT, with participation from Eximius Ventures, Antler and angel investors.

Founded in April 2026, the Bengaluru-based startup is still very early in its journey, but it is entering a category that is quickly becoming one of the most interesting applications of artificial intelligence — education.

ProLearn is trying to move online learning beyond recorded videos, standardised lessons and question banks. Its platform is being built as a conversational AI companion that can understand how a student is progressing and adapt the learning experience accordingly.

A student struggling with a concept could receive a different explanation. Someone who understands it quickly could move on to something more challenging. The idea is to make online learning feel less like consuming the same content as everyone else and more like learning with a personal tutor.

The company is initially targeting K-12 students and competitive-exam learners, with plans to expand its curriculum and eventually support more Indian languages.

For Ravneet Singh, this isn’t his first experience with EdTech. Before founding ProLearn, he worked in technology leadership roles at Vedantu, giving him a close view of how India’s online education market evolved during its first major growth phase.

His IIIT Hyderabad connection also makes ProLearn an interesting story for us.

Over the years, IIIT-H has produced founders, engineers and researchers working across AI, deep-tech and product innovation. ProLearn may be headquartered in Bengaluru, but it is another example of talent emerging from Hyderabad’s academic ecosystem and building for a much larger market.

The fresh ₹30 crore will primarily be used to strengthen ProLearn’s AI and reasoning infrastructure, product development, engineering and curriculum content, while also hiring across AI/ML, product and growth.

What makes the story interesting is the timing.

India’s first big EdTech wave was largely about taking education online. Classes moved to apps, teachers moved to video, and students suddenly had access to learning from anywhere.

AI could take that idea one step further.

Instead of giving thousands of students exactly the same lesson, an AI-led platform can potentially create a slightly different learning journey for each one.

That could mean changing the pace, simplifying an explanation, offering another example or deciding that a student is ready to move ahead.

For ProLearn, the opportunity is not simply to add AI features to an education app. It is to make personalisation the product itself.

Of course, the real success of any education company eventually comes down to learning outcomes.

The technology may be impressive, but what matters to students and parents is whether the learner understands concepts better, becomes more confident and actually improves over time.

That will be the more important part of ProLearn’s journey to watch.

For now, ₹30 crore at the pre-seed stage gives the company the resources to build its product, experiment with its approach and start putting the AI companion in front of real learners.

India has already seen what happens when technology makes education more accessible.

ProLearn is now betting that the next step is making that education more personal.

And with an IIIT Hyderabad alumnus behind the company, this is one startup journey we’ll be keeping an eye on.
