Devthon is back again – This time for a safer Hyderabad
10 years ago Saloni AnandDevthon is a 36hour event organized to promote innovation and creation of solutions. Rapid prototyping is witnessed at its best here at Devthon. The designers, engineers, developers, scientists, researchers, technology architects and students come together to create solutions by co-working. Experts from various industries are present to guide the co-creation exercises among the individuals. This helps achieve impactful outcomes.
Devthon uses a four-phase methodology to achieve a promising prototype:
1. Ideation:
In the ideation phase the participants talk to the domain experts to identify the gaps in the current working style. They also brainstorm within themselves to identify various solutions to the given problem.
2. Design Thinking:
Narrow down to the most feasible solution and identify the resources, timeline and limitations involved.
3. Prototyping:
Prepare and build the prototype with the minimum requirements.
4. Showcase:
Teams get five minutes to present their prototypes and later get constructive feedback on the same.
The devathon this time will be conducted from 8th November, 9:00 am to 9th November, 7:00 pm. The event will attempt to solve the safety, protection and crime related issues of Hyderabad city. The Society for Cyberabad Security Council, Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, Hyderabad Hackers and Hyderabad Software Association (HYSEA) has come together in association to support this event. The event will involve local law enforcement officers and first responders. They will help bring to surface issues faced by them on a day-to-day basis while protecting our city. The challenge is to create prototypes that could help them improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The key focus areas identified by the organizers are:
ââ€â€Ã‚¦Ã‚ Women Safety
ââ€â€Ã‚¦Ã‚ Road Safety
ââ€â€Ã‚¦Ã‚ Community Safety
ââ€â€Ã‚¦Ã‚ Public Safety
ââ€â€Ã‚¦Ã‚ Public Transport Safety

The Previous devthon, “Smart Cities IoT devothon for metropolis†was conducted in October at the engineering staff college of India. This devothon brought in solutions for focus areas like clean up, accident detection and rescue system, parking guide, trafficgram , device speak, smart spectrum and DIDcam. The clean up prototype was awarded as the most impactful solution.  It monitored waste levels in garbage bins to effectively manage waste collection and disposal.
Who doesn’t want a city free from crime? Here is a chance for every citizen to contribute and move towards a safe Hyderabad. Let us be responsible citizens.
