The Factly Data Devthon 2016, Is Here!
8 years ago Rahul DasDevthon comes as a platform where like-minds from different walks of life gather under one roof to solve challenges and build prototypes which could act as a solution. They blend the principles of design thinking, co-creation and prototyping as they go about creating solutions by co-working with the facilitators, mentors and domain experts.
What is in store this time?
This year the area of focus is on Open Data. As we all know, the main agenda of open data is to further advance the transparency in governance and data journalism. Open data is an ocean full of information and it is usually complicated for the layman to understand. In order to make public data more relevant for a wider spectrum of people, Devthon will join hands with public data experts, data enthusiasts, developers, researchers, engineers, designers, students and startups to embark on a journey discovering the challenges and opportunities in public and government data.
Understanding Open data.
So, what exactly is Open Data? Open data is similar to the other “open†movements like open source, open content and open access. Formally put, a piece of data is open if anyone is free to use, reuse and redistribute it without restrictions from copyrights, patents or other mechanisms of control.
Why Devthon?
Devthon is a co-creation platform and their objective has been to create interventions which contributes in the innovation quotient among various ecosystems. This two day event is based on open data where the participants research, brainstorm and build a prototype to overcome the ongoing challenges faced by the communities around us. With the help of the Government of Telangana, this year the Factly Data Devthon aims at making public data more substantial to the common man by simplifying it in terms of data visualisation, narrative methods and interactive designs.
When and where?
